3. ExxonMobil has found two more oil discoveries off the coast of Guyana

American oil giant ExxonMobil said on Tuesday that there were two new oil exploration discoveries in the southeast of the Liza and payara development projects in the Stabroek block off the coast of Guyana, bringing the total number of discoveries in Guyana to 25.

Guyana’s oil is mostly light oil, and the carbon emission per barrel of oil is also low, which can meet the requirements of the market for low carbon and carbon emission reduction.

A consortium composed of ExxonMobil, Hess oil company and others began to explore and produce oil in Guyana in 2019. At present, it controls all oil production in Guyana, and the oil production cost of these projects is low. Its current production level has exceeded the initially set target of 340000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, which was originally scheduled to be achieved by the end of 2022.

It is estimated that by 2027, Guyana will become the 11th country in the history of the oil industry to reach the milestone of one million barrels per day.

Rhoordeouladdjemaaaouest-1 (rodw-1) exploration well is located around siffatimaii research, and is the third well in exploration and drilling activities. It led to the discovery of oil and associated gas in the Triassic sandstone of the tagi reservoir. During the production test, the well produced 1300 barrels / day of oil and about 2mmscfd of associated gas.

This discovery is part of new exploration activities, including the drilling of five wells in the northern berkine basin.

Eni has recently been very active in the berkine basin. Just last week, Eni Group signed a new PSC agreement with Sonatrach, oxy and total energy on blocks 404 and 208 in Algeria.
